Crashing waves content for the LED waterfall environment

At the time of its July 1, 2021 opening, Planet 13's Orange County SuperStore in Santa Ana was positioned as California's largest dispensary and the world's second-largest cannabis dispensary complex, modeled after the brand's Las Vegas flagship. The project arrived with major media attention, a 55,000-square-foot planned footprint, a 16,500-square-foot sales floor, 50 registers, and more than 250 local jobs.

For the grand opening, MELT created the waterfall content for the vertical LED wall wrapping the entry portal and built a custom video LED floor experience: an interactive beach scene where customers could walk across digital sand, leave footprints behind them, and watch waves wash those footprints away.

MELT handled content creation, installation, manufacturer coordination, and custom Unity programming for the interactive system. The project pushed through a very challenging pixel space: roughly 18,000 pixels wide, well beyond 8K resolution, with media spanning architectural LED, floor interaction, physical guest flow, and real-time playback.
