The Pentagon XR Visual Design Case Study

The Pentagon was a COVID-era private concert concept built in partnership with AG Lighting and The Activity by Patrick Dierson. The goal was simple and ambitious: give people a way to feel like they were still going to a concert at a time when live shows had disappeared.

The first artist we developed the format around was KASKADE. The artist filmed himself performing on green screen, then we composited that performance into a real-time stage environment built across Unity, Unreal Engine, and nDisplay.

The physical LED walls were arranged as a pentagon, but the content was warped so the room read as a 360-degree arena around the audience. Above the pentagon, a full lighting rig mirrored and interacted with the animated lighting system in the virtual scene, creating the feeling that the performer, crowd, stage, and lighting all lived in the same space.

Scope included concept development, virtual venue design, stage visualization, LED content mapping, artist integration tests, crowd/look development, and real-time playback planning for a private immersive concert experience.
